Although funding from arts organisations within the U.K has reduced in recent years this hasn’t stopped an emergence of filmmaking creatives within the U.K self-funding their own projects and utilising available self-distribution platforms to release their work. Producer, actor & director, Anthony Vander, is the founder of Distortion Entertainment. The London-based production company is among. Fresh off the back of releasing Season 1 of his web series Housemates, we caught up with Anthony as he gears up to release his debut feature-length film.
Housemates is about 3 young adults living together. Who are not just friends but a lot like family. The series follows their day to day lives and a typical day for each of them. My character Ashley is an art dealer. She’s young and strong and trying to have a love life, in this new technological world of Tinder and online dating.
Housemates is about three friends living together (Leon, Ashley and Kwame), in season one we experience a day in the life of these fellas. Leon, the character I play, is a DJ, very fun, bright, outgoing, hard worker and still single. In season one Leon is challenged into doing something he’s not used to, he’s asked to talk about an uncomfortable event and his put-on spotlight to decide who’s cooking is the best between his two best mates.
We are very excited to announce that Scales has been awarded Best Ensemble (Kamal Simpson, Nicola Roffe, Kane Surry, Anthony Vander) and Best Supporting Actor (Anthony Vander) and at the Los Angeles Film Awards.
